NEW SWING DOOR FOR NUCOR HERTFORD

PTI received an order from Nucor Hertford for the equipment supply, start up and commissioning of a Swing Door technology package for their EAF.

The new Swing Door will help improve foamy slag control by keeping the slag door closed for almost the entire heat.  The slag door will only be opened for steel samples and de-slagging. By keeping the slag door closed, less energy is lost, less carbon is consumed, and more yield is conserved. Swingdoor technology contributes to indirect savings of CO2 emissions, through electrical energy consumption and electrode consumption reductions.
